Since graduating from Curtin University W.A. in the 1990s with a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts and Creative Writing, I have honed my skills as a professional writer, artist, educator and arts support worker mostly in the fields of disability, education, community, literature and performing arts. As a freelance artist I've worked at places like these: DADAA Ltd, Brink Productions, Urban Myth Theatre, Deckchair Theatre, Carclew, Writers SA, and Mockingbird Lounge. I've also had short stints in banks and sales ...

... it's okay, I don't dwell on those.

Right now I love working part-time at Tutti Arts Inc. as the Coordinator of the fledgling Creative Writing Program. I also facilitate workshops and provide support to artists in the Theatre Program. But, like most creatives, I juggle various other projects and am always on the lookout for creative collaborations.

I especially love collaborating with writers and performers to edit and shape new work. I'm the outside eye, the one who is on your side, and who understands the ups and downs of creating a new script or writing a story. I'm both supportive and ruthless when it comes to shaping and improving your work. You'll receive feedback on areas of uncertainty and questioning, areas of promise and development, story structure, character development, action and pace. I'll also suggest writing exercises tailored to assist you in further developing your work.

My other areas of interest are:

  • Making new work with artists working across a range of disciplines.
  • Teaching creative writing in small groups, especially with older women who are just begin to explore their creativity.
  • Providing one-on-one dramaturgical support for individual theatre makers.
  • Working on projects that merge arts with other fields such as science, history and health.

"The perfect collaborator: smart, tough, funny, and offering plenty of honest, constructive feedback."
"I learned an enormous amount from Caroline, not only about the writing process but about myself."
"I don't typically write poetry however today's lesson has sparked an interest in me. It was an honour to hear from her."

If you're keen to collaborate, I'd love to hear from you! Drop me a line: caroline[at]
