Since graduating from Curtin University W.A. in the 1990s with a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts and Creative Writing, I've performed many roles, working as a professional playwright, dramaturg, writing consultant, creative writing teacher, theatre and poetry workshop facilitator and arts support worker for artists with learning disabilities. I currently work part-time for Tutti Arts Inc. while juggling various other creative projects. I am available for teaching and creative collaborations and would love to hear from you. My special areas of interest are:
  • Creative writing in small groups, especially with women who, for one reason or another, have not had access to creative writing.
  • One-on-one dramaturgical support for individual artists, especially writer/performers
  • Slam poetry workshops in schools
  • Creative collaborations with artists working in film, music  and performance
  • Projects that merge arts and creativity with other fields such as science, history and health

Since 2015 I have taught a monthly creative class in the lovely rooms at Mockingbird Lounge Bookshop & Cafe. It's a two hour writing session where I provide you with writing exercises and you write; includes some discussion, reflection and reading work aloud. Fun and low pressure. Suitable for beginners, the time poor, or those who would like to write but are unsure how to begin.

Where: Mockingbird Lounge, 631 Broadway, Glenelg South

When: First Tuesday of the month (7-9pm)
Investment: $25 per session

I love collaborating with writers and performers to create new work. I'm the outside eye, the one who is on your side, and who understands the ups and downs of creating a new script or writing a story. I'm both supportive and ruthless when it comes to shaping and improving your work. You'll receive feedback on areas of uncertainty and questioning, areas of promise and development, story structure, character development, action and pace. I'll also suggest writing exercises tailored to assist you in further developing your work.

"The perfect collaborator: smart, tough, funny, and offering plenty of honest, constructive feedback."
– Gabrielle Griffin, professional performer and puppeteer
"I learned an enormous amount from Caroline, not only about the writing process but about myself."

– Creative writing participant, Mockingbird Lounge
"I don't typically write poetry however today's lesson has sparked an interest in me. It was an honour to hear from her."
– First year creative writing student, University of Adelaide
